Early in 2011 DSE closed the Lerderderg Track between Jubilee Lake and St Leonards Hill following storm damage. The track is still closed. GDTA has repeatedly requested that the track be reopened. At a meeting with DSE Midlands District in November 2011 the GDTA asked DSE to take urgent action to reopen the track.

DSE have advised that only DSE posts are allowed on their land. This means that on the Lerderderg Track between Jubilee Lake and Blackwood, DSE will replace all green GDT posts with grey DSE posts.

Wallaby Track

Buninyong to Daylesford
92km walk traversing the Great Dividing Range between Daylesford, Creswick, Ballarat and Buninyong

Creswick Miners Walk

Ballarat - Creswick 23km

This section of the Trail allows you to follow in the Creswick miners' footsteps. The walk begins at the Ballarat Railway Station and winds through Creswick Regional Park and Creswick State Forest.

From Ballarat it follows the Yarrowee Creek Valley to the outskirts of Ballarat. It then heads into the forest past Nuggety Dam and White Swan Reservoir. It goes over the Divide through the forest, coming onto water again at Slaty Creek. It passes the mining dams at Blue Waters and St Georges Lake (both great places for a swim in summer).

Wintarni Olives offer accommodation to walkers on the Wallaby Track. They are located only five minutes from Codes Forest Road (marked on the map). More detasils from Barb and Rob Glass (GDTA Members) Phone 03 53335093 or Mobile 0409812470.

Entry stations are located at Ballarat Station and Creswick Information Centre.
